Black-Owned Business Feature: SimplyFabilous







One of the things we love to do on Things We Love Right Now is to showcase black-owned businesses that are working hard to produce high-quality products or services. 

As a black-owned business ourselves, we also put our best foot forward when it comes to representing the black community in the best possible way. Every week, we will be showcasing some of the best black-owned brands from around the world. 

Today we are showcasing SimplyFabilous, beauty and fashion brand based in Canada. We first came into contact with the brand when we were scrolling through Instagram searching for black-owned beauty products to review. SimplyFabilous stood out to us because of the vibrant colors and clean, elegant packaging.

SimplyFabilous: The Business 

SimplyFabilous is the brainchild of skincare specialist Fabiola Hinton. Fabiola launched the brand in 2017 as a direct response to her desire to produce and retail products that reflected not only her personality but the personalities of many women in the black community globally. 

Haitian-born Fabiola took inspiration from her sister who is a certified cosmetologist. Hinton went on to study for a career as an aesthetician. Upon creating a spa business plan for a school project, she decided to set up SimplyFabilous. 

Fabiola states that her goal was to create a brand that was for women of color and by a woman of color. She also created the brand for any woman that wants to feel good and look good. SimplyFabilous by name and SimplyFabilous in everything that forms the essence of the brand. 

Fabiola's fundamental aim for the brand is to promote self-confidence and to encourage women to love the skin that they are in. 

The brand was initially launched as a retail storefront however, as the company evolved, it has become an online retail brand. The company currently produces makeup products, fashion accessories, and hair bundles. 


All products and non-toxic and suitable for both vegans and vegetarians.

Black Girl Magic Beauty Brands: Iftiimo Hair and Skincare

 I recently discovered Iftiimo, a really interesting brand. After reading their brand story, I learned that the word "Iftiimo" means "light" or "glow" in Somalian, which I found highly inspirational and beautiful.
