Black Girl Magic Beauty Brands: Iftiimo Hair and Skincare

I recently discovered Iftiimo, a really interesting brand. After reading their brand story, I learned that the word "Iftiimo" means "light" or "glow" in Somalian, which I found highly inspirational and beautiful. I am a fan of naturally derived skin and haircare products, so I dug deeper into the brand and discovered that it was founded by Qatan Sagaale, a passionate beauty enthusiast and clinical research professional.

Because there aren't many well-known black-owned skincare or haircare brands in Australia, I was interested in what they had to offer. Qatan is passionate about natural beauty and the ability of natural ingredients to eliminate skin and hair issues such as dryness and hyperpigmentation, which is a major issue for many people of color.

Iftiimo was born as a result of extensive research and deliberation over ideas and formulations. Qatan creates high-quality, well-thought-out haircare and skincare products that are nourishing, healing, and protective.

Qatan was inspired to launch Iftiimo after becoming dissatisfied with the scarcity of high-quality, effective natural skincare and haircare products on the market. Furthermore, products suitable for people of color were difficult to find in Australia, so she decided to develop her own line. A skin and hair care product line that promotes healthy, nourished skin and hair.

Iftiimo was launched in April 2019 following extensive research into the best and most potent natural ingredients. Qatan also received positive feedback from friends and family about the efficacy of her first product, the Conditioning Hair Growth Oil. It is still one of the most popular products in her skincare and haircare line, which is available on the official Iftiimo website.

Following the positive response to the conditioning growth oil, more products were introduced. For instance, the Brahmi + Amla Hair Oil is a nourishing oil made with Indian Gooseberry oil and Brahmi, both of which are potent ingredients that nourish and protect the hair.

Brahami contains powerful antioxidants that strengthen blood vessels, stimulating hair growth and nourishing the scalp.

Indian gooseberry is high in phytonutrients, vitamins, and minerals, all of which promote oxygen flow and blood circulation. Indian gooseberries are also high in vitamin C, which helps to promote collagen production and hair growth.

Iftiimo makes highly effective turmeric and coffee exfoliating soap for the skin that works to reduce hyperpigmentation and rough-dry skin. It aids in the removal of cellulite, acne scars, and skin blemishes.

The products from Iftiimo are luxurious, cleansing, nourishing, and protective. One of my favorite aspects of Iftiimo is that all of their products are cruelty-free, with no animal testing, making them suitable for vegans and vegetarians. Iftiimo's mission is to develop high-quality, organic products that people can rely on.

Iftiimo is committed to sustainability by combining ancient African and Ayurvedic herbs, oils, butter, and oils. All ingredients are responsibly sourced with the goal of stabilizing communities and preventing the destruction of the communities that produce the raw materials used to make Iftiimo's clean and natural skincare and haircare products.

As she continues to work in clinical research and manage her brand, Qatan is a true example of a female boss. She is a passionate advocate for natural skincare and haircare products. I'm excited to see what the future holds for the incredible brand that is Iftiimo.

As more Black-owned brands emerge and expand, it is critical that we as a community continue to support established and emerging brands that produce impactful, high-quality products, such as Iftiimo and other brands like it.
